Care Guide

How to care for your gold, silver, pearl, or natural stone jewelry

At YAY, each piece of jewelry is handmade in our Parisian workshop. Designed as second-skin jewelry, they accompany you daily and acquire a patina with you over time.
To preserve their beauty durably, a few simple steps are enough.

❌ Products to avoid to preserve your jewelry

To avoid any alteration or tarnishing, avoid direct contact of your jewelry with:

- Perfume, creams and body oils,

- Corrosive household products such as bleach, descalers or detergents,

- Chlorinated water from swimming pools,

- Humid or very sunny environments when storing.

💡 Jewelry care tip: Put on your jewelry after applying perfume and makeup, and remove it before showering, exercising or going to bed.

Caring for Your Sterling Silver (925) Jewelry

Our silver jewelry is made of 925 silver, also called sterling silver (92.5% pure silver).

Silver is a living material that naturally evolves over time.

Good news: the more you wear your jewelry, the less it oxidizes.

How to prevent silver from oxidizing?

- Wear your jewelry regularly: contact with the skin prevents oxidation.

- Do not leave them in a closed box for a long time: silver oxidizes in the dark.

How to clean silver jewelry?

- Use a bath of lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush or a chamois cloth.

- If the jewelry has blackened or yellowed, clean it with a special silver cloth.

Cultured pearls are living organic materials, delicate by nature.

How to care for cultured pearl jewelry?

- Clean them with a soft cloth and a drop of mild dish soap diluted in lukewarm water.

- Rub by hand or with a microfiber cloth (never a brush).

- Wear them regularly: the natural moisture of your skin preserves their luster.

- Avoid storing them in prolonged darkness: they need light and air.

🌈 Good to know: pearls can naturally change color over time.
